Evolution vs Creation

As promised our discussion forum this week is on evolution vs creation. Can you be a Christian and believe in evolution. Where does Natural Selection fit into the picture. Did God create the world or did big bang happen. Does a belief in evolution put the integrity of the Bible at risk .

Some people argue that if you do not implicitly believe in the Genesis story in which evolution plays no part then how do we believe in the Gospels. There are plenty of people out there who think that ‘big bang’ and evolution plus natural selection explains the rest. There is also a large group of Christian scientists out there who believe that creation happened and that God uses evolution as a too. We are going to try and remain neutral in all these debates. There are many important issues for us all and sometimes it is difficult for people to get their views aired. This is your opportunity.

There are many books and dvds on the subject and this can be an excellent subject for seminars and also small group discussion.

Please feel free to post your comments and also to find out what other people think.

Revive Bookstore Customer Update

Our shop and website have now been open for 3 weeks. Time flies when you
are enjoying yourself. The coffee shop is flying and a good selection of
books and gifts are being sold. Watch out for the new Francine Rivers book
in September ( available in store or on our bookstore website ).

Also coming up in the autumn will be our promotion aimed at church congregations and that
will be to read the Bible in a year. Many people in our own congregation
took this on last year and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
You never know what a day brings and one of our regular ( we are very
blessed in people who are coming back time after time) customers told me
this morning that her husband is dying at a young age from a Genetic
disorder. Worse is the possibility that their sons and grandsons may have
inherited the disease. We have added Heather and family to our prayer list
and would ask you to remember them in your prayers.
Next week we will kick of our debate and discussion forum with a
discussion and poll on Creation and evolution. We are looking forward to
hearing your views and opinions.

Revive Online Christian Bookstore Has Arrived

Hello everyone, welcome to our first blog!

Well we have done it! By that I mean we have opened our new Christian bookstore and coffee house in Comber last week.

Revive Bookstore and Coffee Shop

Revive Bookstore and Coffee Shop

Thanks to all for the support we have received since opening. Someone said to me this morning that if God had chosen us to do this then we didn’t need to worry about management issues, we simply needed to be on hand to do as guided. No doubt those with business degrees will be appalled by this but we got very clear guidance on where to open and when we tried to look elsewhere our path was blocked. We set off with an idea of how the shop should look and ended up with something completely different which everyone seems to really enjoy. Everyone we have asked for help has been more than helpful.
We have launched our website http://www.revivebooks.com and part of this is to get Christians and non-Christians to participate in active debates on various issues. We have even decided to have a poll available on these issues so that we can give feedback to you on what the general opinion is.
Once again thanks to everyone who has supported us and please keep us in your prayers.
